As I mentioned above, the school campus is slowly but steadily materializing. Several buildings have been completed and more than half the student body are now able to attend classes indoors. There is still more to do though. Around 250 students are still using temporary classrooms, which protect from the rain but don’t do much for the heat or when the wind picks up. The school principle said they are waiting to find donors for 10 more classrooms and finish a protective wall around the campus. If anyone seeing this knows of an NGO that would be willing to work with the school please feel free to contact me on my Facebook page and I can put you in touch with the principle. Again, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated their time or money to this project. Five thousand dollars doesn’t seem like much to many people, but here in the Philippines it can have a huge impact for those in need. This experience has been a constant reminder to me what people can do when they come together with a purpose. We may not be able to change the world, but we can make a difference at the community level. After all, that’s where great change usually starts anyways.
